Capt. Arnold “Arnie” Quast has been flying as a professional pilot for over 25 years. He is currently a line captain for United Airlines (A320). He also serves on the United Airlines/ALPA Pilot-Dispatcher Communication Group. He has also served United as a Line Check Airman (B737) and a Crew Resource Management Instructor. Capt. Quast holds aircraft-type-ratings for the B-737, B-757, B-767, B-777 and A320. Capt. Quast began his aviation career in the mid-1980s as first a line-service technician and then as a primary flight instructor. He also served as the manager of a small aviation-support facility.
He continues his passion for personal flying by regularly flying a variety of light aircraft and nurturing new pilots as a flight instructor and mentor. He graduated from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) with a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Science. While at ERAU, he served as a flight instructor in the ERAU program and won a coveted slot as a United Airlines intern. Capt. Quast is a member of Airline Pilots Association, UAL Council 12, Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 933 and he is an active Young Eagles Pilot for the EAA. He is a Board Member/Treasurer for the Northern Illinois Center for Autism, the Group Leader for the Embry-Riddle Chicago Alumni Chapter and an Assistant Cubmaster.
